Practical & theoretical training by a Licensed Guide Outfitter... it's what makes the
difference in the quality of the guide in Adventure Tourism. Chilcotin
Ranch has been training wilderness guides since 1990. People from all
over the world, from all walks of life, have graduated from their
programs and have gone on to fill the employment needs of the
adventure tourism industry throughout the world.
These Programs are about "guiding in the wilderness by horseback", and
provide participants with a solid base of combined working knowledge
and practical skills. Everybody can do this - beginners to advanced
riders! Camping experience is an asset but not necessary.
Accommodation is a combination of ranch tent cabins and alpine camps.
Different educational moduls to choose from. Scholarships available -

The Wilderness Guide Training Programs are intended to increase the
supply of qualified guides in the industry, and assist in the
diversification of the guide outfitting industry into adventure
tourism. The working ranch is a Licensed Guide Outfitting business
that offers outdoor adventure products during four seasons within a
6,000 square km guide territory. In addition to the Wilderness Guide
Training Programs, they offer guide outfitting, fishing, pack trips,
guest ranch adventures, grizzly viewing, hiking, mountain biking, and
winter adventures such as sleigh rides, snowmobile tours and ski
tours. This mix of outdoor adventure products provides a forum for a
wide range of year round and seasonal employment, and allows to
conduct training that is diverse and comprehensive.
