Hiking
Hey, your thoughts are overtaking and surpassing you in your imagined hike as you make your way to work but that is okay as you will catch up with them while relaxing in the evening and that will be just fine. Gradually, the red of the traffic lights transmutes into a kalediscope of maple reds and alder yellows. The eyes of your fantasy are filled with the rich mature green of late autumn shot with the blue silver of the fjords set like glittering jewels in the crown of the Coast Mountain forest. Let yourself go in your imagination, no one is there to tell you where or how far you can go—leaping across expanse of country, bits of twigs and branches brush your being, massaging the stress of the city living out of your soul. In your vivid imaginings the sensation of squashed ripe black berry juice staining your trousers brings you back to reality, but not for long.
Returning to your reverie, you go higher and higher up into the mountains. Bit by bit, the silent giant trees become smaller, bowing to the altitude. Reaching your destination you can feel your legs and there is a pleasant tickling under your skin, as a blanket of darkness and tiredness woven together wrap you up. As you drift your ears seem to grow keener and a second world is opening up before you. A cool breeze brushes against the tiny hairs of your goose-pimples popping up. Your senses are now more acute than during the day, picking up traces of smells in the air—making you dream of moose, deer, bears and owls , which you absolutely want to see! After a deep sleep in incomparable freshness of mountain air you wake and in the early morning your guide proves to you that your senses were not misleading you. The trails and the wild life match the odors. The nature reserves and regions yet to be discovered by tourism are yours for the walking. The mountains in the background fulfill every wish, here where there are still mountains with no name, you can see the old and the new glacial ice of the earth and getting there can be arranged in various ways: on foot, by bike, by boat , by four-wheel-drive or plane/helicopter. It depends on your preferences and the time you want to take. Be it photographic safari or a guided tour through nature, strenuous or relaxed - the breathtaking spectacle of nature won't be disturbed by you. What do you feel like doing? Maybe several day trips in all weathers into all four corners of the earth, with your soul dangling above your bed in the evening from expectation and excitement of what is and what will be. Likewise your soul will dangle over your sleeping bag if you decide to go on a several day's hike from cabin to cabin or a camping hike—what about the nightly goose-pimples—what was just rustling over there or...?
